Fall 2016 Skincare Routine

“Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself.”   – Coco Chanel

Hello Everyone!

It’s officially Autumn!!!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful start to the fall season! As autumn comes around the weather is chillier and it is always relaxing to have a “spa night” at home, cuddled on the couch watching Christmas movies and drinking autumnal teas. This pamper night has always been a part of my routine, because taking care of your skin is very important. Growing up, my mom always told my sister and me to take care of our skin. She would say time-and-time again,”You only have one skin, take care of it!” It was not until I was in high school, and when started to wear makeup, that I realized how important it is to keep your skin hydrated and cleansed (So…thanks, Mom!). Anyways, since then I have made it one of my missions to keep a routine for skincare that will keep my skin feeling happy and healthy! *sips tea* Now let’s get into the routine   🙂

(quick side-note: I just wanted to mention that I have a combination skin type, and I still and dealing with some stubborn acne scars)

One a day-to-day basis my realistic routine consists of: day moisturizer, makeup remover wipes, face cleanser, toner, and night cream. Once a week I try my best in incorporate a weekly pamper night when I use a face mask.

I wake up in the morning and start my routine by washing my face with warm water and then quickly splashing it with cold water before I pat my face dry with a towel. The reason for the warm water is so that the pores open and all the grime and oil from sleeping is washed away and the cold water after to close the pores so dirt can’t infect the pores. Next, I use my Yes to Grapefruit SPF 15 Even Skin Toner Moisturizer all over my face and into my neck. This product is very nice on the skin and doesn’t make the skin oily, but if you don’t blend it into your skin primg_4102operly, it will give a ghostly sheen on your face. I will be honest, I would rate this product a 6 out of ten because it has a nice consistency, but it is difficult to properly blend into the skin so it can end up leaving a white sheen to the face. I will definitely experimenting with more moisturizers after this one is empty.  So, that is the morning part of the skin care routine.

In the evening, I get ready to take a shower by using the Burt’s Bees makeup wipes for sensitive skin, if I used makeup that day. After, I jump into the shower and wash my face with The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash and lather it onto my face, leaving there for a minute or two before washing it off. After I am done in the shower, I apply my The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Mattifying Toner on a cotton pad as soon as I can so it can clean out my pores. I wait around 2-3 minutes to let that fully sink-in before applying my favorite night cream, the ACURE Argan Stem Cell night cream (a little goes a looong way). This night cream has changed my life…literally. I have noticed a huge difference in my skin: it is brighter, more hydrated, and my blemishes/scars are slowly diminishing. Such an amazing product, I am going to go out and try the full line of this product as soon as possible. It is a sure 10 out of 10.

On my pamper night days, after removing my makeup and before jumping in the shower, I apply theThe Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Face Mask. I leave it on for around 10-15 minutes and then pick up the normal routine after the mask. This mask is absolutely incredible, like I actually notice a visual difference in the appearance of my skin every time I use it. It feels cooling on the skin and the Tea Tree oils help with acne scars and act as a preventative agent for future breakouts. All in all, the whole The Body Shop Tea Tree line is 10 out of 10.

On a tea note, my current favorite night-time tea is from none other than Trader Joe’s. Their Fairtrade Organic Rooibos Honeybush Tea is such a lovely and soothing tea to wind down with at the end of the day. It has a slight sweet hint with some flavors similar to chamomile tea: the perfect night-time tea!

I hope I my skin care routine was interesting and helpful to those who are still configuring their own regime! Let me know what your routine is, I would love to change up my regime and try something new   🙂   Have a wonderful rest of the day (or night)!!

All the Best,

***Fun fact: All the products that I am using in my current skin care routine are cruelty-free,  meaning that animal testing was not a part of the creation/production process.
